That's gorgeous. Does it need a slight counter-clockwise rotation or is that an optical illusion, or have I had too much wine? Or it that mast that's throwing me out?

    Beautiful B & W conversion.

I like the challenge of fog. You want a combination of mystery and clarity and you have achieved both with this image.

Mm, lovely peaceful images Paul. Probably the absence of people! My only suggestion would be re the first one - the distance goes blank quite suddenly. The fog must have been quite thick back there. I tried cropping a bit of the sky with a book and it improved to my eye - the focus seemed to come forward away from the blank distance and onto the boats and their tranquil reflections. Just a thought, I do like the photo. It would work in sepia too. Are the shadows just a tad dark in the second pic? Well done anyway.

I love images in the fog.
The first is lovely the way the sky merges to the water. I think you have the BW treatment just right for the foggy scene - no jet blacks.
A suggestion (if I may) would be to crop a little from the top and right side, keeping a square format (which really suits here), but lose a little of the unoccupied space.

David/rob i like your thinking about the crop as i was in 2 minds about it to begin with.as i liked the lighter clouds in the top right corner. but i can see what you mean about the focus moving forward to the boats.
Donald no its not your wine playing you up.it me not paying enough attention to it cheers all for the feed back

I'm going with Donald on this one - IMO it does not need the crop at all.

I took the liberty of adding a gradient layer (45% opacity), to bring out the clouds just a bit more. Hope y0u don't mind?

Just shows how individuals perceptions are so different - maybe a half-way crop between the original and the cropped.

Lovely photo though, the other photo is very attractive too but the quayside photo has, understandably, taken front stage.
