Waves

Shooting next to waves is really fun, I recommend it. Here are some shots I took a little while ago (I feel I'm a little chaotic in the way I post my photos - there's no chronological order...). Anyway, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I thought I'd let someone else have 'first go' at these, they have, so now I have some ideas ....

Wave kids I
If possible, I might have shot with a little more space at the top of frame
There's a bright, horiontal line in top right corner I would clone out
Also something pale that extends to top edge of frame, just left of centre - I'd probably clone that out to or at least feather it to the frame edge, or 'disconnect it' from the wave top

Wave kids II
Good composition, just two things I'd clone on this;
the concrete portal in distant background, the sunlit sstraight edges don't fit with the image
there's a larger bright stone almost dead centre that attracts the eye too much

Engulfed
This one just doesn't do anything for me; although I wonder why he's down there in the surf at that angle, but perhaps the answer is in the next one ...

Exhaustion
This makes far more sense, although I am wondering why he's so tight to the edge of the image, I'd leave more room.
I love the way the wave goes into the bottom left corner and leads the eye to the poor chap.


The subject placement on 1 and 4 makes me think it is deliberate, so you may, and are perfectly entitled to, feel my comments aren't to your taste.

Wave shots are all about timing and yours is spot on.

About the subject placement you mention, I'm experimenting a lot lately on different ways to compose an image - especially when I'm shooting people. Some of them work and some of them don't as it may be the case with #4.
