LOL! I know exactly what you mean. After westling with full shot issues on a bird shot I took I cropped to about this much and it took a first in the mini's! You never really know if you don't try! Even cropped, it has good detail!

Thanks again to everyone for helping out. Learned a lot of pp'ing with this. Thank you.
Bobo, love the head shot, and what you have done with the reworks. Only thing though, on the full shot I think the background is too dark (it's great on the headshot) I like the background in the original better, except for the bright spots at the edges. The hint of green to me is more natural looking and gives me a hint of context. The dark looks good, but takes the outdoors away. Also, I really think if you could clone the big imperfection in the wood below the birds feet (as Dave suggested) it would be a big improvement.

Great shots, I would be so happy with these. Both are winners, but the head shot is gorgeous.

WOW! I can't believe you were so close and he didn't take off. I am getting a 60D before Nov. can't wait to use it. It is a beautiful photo.

CIC has helped me tremendously in the short time that I have been into photography.

Camera is a Canon 550D (aka T2i). Lense is the Canon 70-300L. Distance was about 6 feet.

Thanks Liz, the 60D is a good camera much better then what I have. My next will be a 7D though.

Thanks Wendy - I tried that, came out blotchy and looked really bad. I have some shots with a cleaner board so may copy that over and blend it in. But pp for me is a real pita hehe
