Re: Sunrise on coast
Beautiful sunrise shots Deb. Sun seems a bit intense in the first one, but then our star can be awfully bright at sunrise..

Re: Sunrise on coast
Both are beautiful Deb. I like the inclusion and placement of the ship in the second one. Good on you lining it up between the light standards.
They both look amazing when clicked on and viewed larger in the lytebox.

Re: Sunrise on coast
Nice shots Deb. I like the colour in #2 particularly. Was the colour difference between #1 and #2 just a result of the cloud conditions changing ?
Oh and by the way, I see you've mastered the canvas borders !!
Cheers Dave

Thanks Mike - Glad you like them and I do agree the sun is a little intense in the first one.

Re: Sunrise on coast
Thanks Wendy,
I just had to sit and wait for the ship to be in the right place for that one. Thanks for your comments.

Re: Sunrise on coast
Dave,
The colour in the second image is from a bit more pp in photoshop. I like it too. Yes, I have mastered the canvas borders but I had a little bit of trouble trying to remember how to get the shadow to make it look like it was raised. Still haven't worked it out.

Re: Sunrise on coast
These are beautiful Debbie! I really like them both!
I love the way the sun shines through the supports of the pier in #1 and leaves streaks of light on the beach - absolutely wonderful colours! The sun is a touch harsh - did you use a GND filter? Maybe this would have helped to prevent overexposure of the sun. Still a lovely scene though! Well done!

Re: Sunrise on coast
Tommy,
No, I didn't use a GND filter as it is still on my wish list along with a lot of other things. I too think it would have made a difference.
Thanks for the comments.

Re: Sunrise on coast
Very pleasing photos.
Yes, Debbie a grad filter is essential - I think it's better to do it on site than through the editing process and I've read articles that support this view. I use Cokin P Series and find that the 1-stop doesn't really do the job- the 2-stop does P121.
Having said that I'm thinking of moving to Lee filters-they are ND grads not grey grads. Here's a few exchanges on the issue but Lee's are expensive.http://www.ephotozine.com/forums/top...grey-grad-3314

Re: Sunrise on coast
Both beautiful shots. If I had to choose I think I would opt for #2. I like the softer tones.
