That's true Donald, but he just keeps on getting better and better. I love his work. Some of the shots he took over here in NZ are stunning. A well deserved winner.

Dear all,

Thanks very much for your comments and encouragement on my photo. I may say a bit more about this photo:

The location of this image is Maroubra - the East Coast of Sydney, it is also my favorite place for seascape photography. My previous image "The Lone Man" was made in this place. But the composition for this one was new, that I found only occurred in a very low tide period.

This image was a result of blending from three images taken during a period of 1.5 hours with exactly the same composition - that is I kept my camera on that spot for more than 1.5 hours and waited for the right time to take incoming waves as well as the starry sky at the much later time.

So the swirl was exposed about 4 seconds, at f/16 ISO 100, and then the middle part of the ocean was exposed about 2 minutes by using a 3-stop ND filter some time later. Finally the starry sky was exposed after 1.5 hours when the darkness arrived at f/2.8, 30 seconds, ISO 1600.

Thanks to all involved, and congratulations to Yan, your images are inspirational, and Peter,( another Gold Coast image I think), fantastic action shot.

A few details, taken at the Gold Coast Queensland, Exposure 1/100, F9, ISO 200
A very much by chance photo, pulled up at the traffic lights and the reflection was on the building in front of me,
managed to take 3 shots before the lights changed and I was tooted for not moving, not a alot of PP, levels, cropped and rotated image.

Three very inspiring pictures to me. It tells me how long my road still is. Especially the craftsmanship of Yan is so far away for me, that I wonder if I ever will reach that level.
