    New self portrait

lol I just had to try it out! My ND400 arrived in the mail today, so while it was still light out I had to have a go. Obviously wrong choice of background. Really was just testing and playing, no intentions of a masterpiece. Oh the fun I will have with this filter.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, just what is a nd400 and what does it do? ghost images?

James, sorry....it is a ND neutral density filter. It allows you to use slower shutter speeds. In this case..the 400 equates to 9 stops. This is enough for 30+ seconds of exposure in full daylight. This is just one of the effects you can accomplish with it.

Very creative shot Paul! So, with this filter and the extended exposure time you get this effect
by simply walking into the frame, striking that glamorous "Fabio" pose for a second or two, then
moving back out of the frame again?

Yes Mike, this was a 30 sec exposure and gave me about 7 sec to pose each spot. If I were to continue to move I would not show up at all. I could shoot a buiding or your bridge and the traffic would not mess up the shot. Figuring they kept moving. Basically the longer the exposure the slower the object can move within the frame and not be seen.
