I shot this using my pentax k-5 with Lensbaby muse and double optic class.

I like the idea behind the image. It gets away from the 'standard' portrait that we are used to. But I do feel there is a lack of tonal contrast across the image. The background tone is similar to your wife's skintone.

    Hi Ganesan,

I do like the composition with the diagonals even repeated in the shadows on wall behind, although a view 'up the nose' of any subject is rarely attractive.

It is lacking contrast as Donald says, my histogram viewer say the black point is 14 (not 0) and the white is 228 (of 255), that said, there's almost nothing above 155.

    Cheers,

    Hi Ganesan,

This 2nd shot looks a little under-exposed - does this look any better?

    Hi Ganesan,

I am beginning to wonder how your monitor is set?

How do you find other people's pictures here at CiC?
    too bright?

Your pictures are consistently somewhat less bright than is normal here - maybe that's what you like, in which case that's fine, but maybe you have the monitor set too bright - or it was delivered that way (most are) and that is 'forcing' you to 'turn things down' in PP when they don't need it.

The ideal solution is to calibrate and profile the monitor of course.

this is why i started this discussion. at last i found that i need to adjust my monitor. s. it is too bright.
    Thanks dave and colin.

Anyway, after your judgment about all of my images( all are little under exposure or less contrast) i discussed with my wife.
She also confirmed that i always select dull color situations . I did not notice that still i seen these replies from dave, colin and from my wife.

Anyway i am also in the boat of photography. I think i will take some colorful photos in coming weeks.
