I like #1 as well and agree with Giannis. The gold colored field is much more interesting than the sky in this case and I would prefer a crop (if possible) that included more of the field and less of the sky.

Thank you Giannis, Scott and Bobo.
I played around with the cropping on this shot for a while before settling on the long panoramic view.
I felt that the golden field was too dominant, like a tidal wave of ploughed earth about to engulf the landscape. In the end I decided to use it just as a base and as a foil against the softness of the distant scene.
Here's a version with more of the ploughed field. What do you think?
