Why is the image inverted in a pinhole camera?

An interesting feature of the "pinhole" camera is that it gives infinite depth of field at a cost and that is focus. YES, a pinhole image is inverted very simply because light travels in a straight line so both horizontally and vertically the top of the subject is at the bottom of t and the sides are reversed in the same way. The light is not bent there because of the tiny aperture but photons ARE tripped by the edge of the aperture and by being crowded together, thus you get some wobbling of them, and the resulting image has infinite depth of field but very slightly out of focus over the range from near to far.

Lenses always invert an image. Modern hand camera will compensate for the but, using an older style view camera, you will see the image inverted when looking through the ground glass for focusing and composing.
