I have a question, looking for feedback...

I have a question for everyone... If I entered this in a photo contest with the topic being "Mirror Images" would you understand my interpretation of the topic... I understand it is different and non-typical... but.....

I will let you know my thinking after I read some responses... so, let me know what you think... Thanks!

Joie, I think people would get the Title, but not the way you worded it in your question. Mirroring nature.....yes. Mirror images......likely not. At least that is how it was for me

Cool pic, love the surfers arms in the shape of the gulls wings. I kind of see where you are coming from with the mirror image thing but have to agree with Paul.

Thanks for all your feedback... The reason I used Mirroring Nature was because of the topic's theme... "Mirror Images" I had one person ask how it fit the topic and I explained my thinking like this...

Mirroring doesn't always have to do with a reflection... I feel this image is man mirroring nature... Owen Wright is taking flight on his surfboard with his arms extended as his wings and is mirroring the seagull in flight below him...

This would be the same as if I took an adult and a child and had them face each other and mimmick each other's movements, raising arms or legs, making a funny face, etc and capturing that as a photo... It is not a reflection in glass or a mirror, but it still could be considered mirrored images...

I'd deeply consider analyzing what the judges of the contest are looking for and see if in the past they were receptive of word play or conceptual pieces. Otherwise, while your image may receive praise, it will not be considered a contender for not following the theme.

I agree with John, I think the link is tenuous at best;
the surfer is balancing
the bird is flying (or gliding)

OK, we could argue that a bird with one wing flies like a sycamore seed
Or the guys arms are aerodynamically helping (ever so slightly), but ...

So you do need to consider, apart from shape (and even that isn't presented at the same angle to camera) what the judges are going to see here.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but that's my view.
I'd be delighted for you if you enter anyway and win, of course.

So think of this as 'expectation setting', by all means enter, there's probably nothing to lose and if you don't try, you'll never succeed.

Thanks for your responses. I can say the photo had already been entered and it was some of the comments by some viewers / voters that made me ask the question. While it is not presently coming in first place, I have received a bunch of votes already on it, so can't complain. Thanks again...
