The rest of the world maybe needs to know that our (UK's) Channel 4 TV uses structures and as the camera 'pans' past them, they form into the number '4'

I have visited and photographed the usual things in Marlow several times, and yesterday I was trying to get something a bit different. However, I did also take one similar to yours, Dave - I suppose it is the more obvious one, or as another recent thread might have put it - the cliche shot.

This bridge, I think, is a definite "blue sky day" subject, on a cloudy day, the structure can get lost in the sky.

This any better (less cliche) ?

I agree - there is so much in the structure of the bridge already in the picture.

I think so - and I like this view along the heavy chain.

If it is any consolation, I did feel a twinge of guilt, but I was hoping you'd show us more.

What can I say: #1 is well presented and sharp.
I did wonder about the church being so central, but I think the crop/framing you have works better than the alternatives.
e.g. crop so span goes into top right corner, or less severe; just take 5% off right hand side.

The second, cliche shot has some perspective distortion, but you probably just popped that in to show great minds think alike
or that we all succumb to the odd cliche now and then

I almost considered suggesting a meet up, but suspect we'd all get in each others shots with such a relatively small subject.

ChrisH could come too, he only lives 'round the corner'.

Much better than mine, well done, you've made me wish I'd gone back this weekend now!

I always felt the council let them build the houses and flats too close to the bridge - it spoils many photos - I can think of more 'sympathetic' buidling to have than what's there.

You've got some lovely crisp shots there Philip (and Dave !), interesting angles too. Who says you Pom's have lousy weather - it looks almost as good as Aussie weather.

Having never been there, I like the tight shot of the church through the arch, and the last three photographs.

In the arch shot, the white street lamp in the top left leads to the one on the right which leads your eye to the church. The only thing I would say to make it better would be to get rid of the sign(?) covering the rest of the church roof on the right side.

The third bridge shot brings out the beauty of the bridge and the red houses on the left add a nice highlight of color.

The steeple shot is wonderful in my opinion, but I like church photos in general and steeples especially. That on is especially intricate. I like how you got the red berries on the bushes that frame it. Nice shot!

I also like the boats with the ducks and red leaves floating in the water.

Looks like a nice place to visit or live near in your case.

I was there on Sunday afternoon, Chris - the weather was perfect. You are so lucky to live there - I love being near water such as a wide river, a lake, or the sea (but not on it!). You must have hundreds of pictures of Marlow, and your night shot is wonderful.
