    In reference to thr person deleting their photos....WHERE or how do y'all store...

    your priceless photos? I have mine backed up (and duplictaed) on 2 PCs, an external hardrive and numerous flashdrives.

    Sorry I cant type very well..accidently grated tip of my finger off...ouch.

    Hi Jeannie,

    My main PC has a mirrored pair of hard drives - I burn 2 DVDs for each commercial / professional job (one kept off site) - I backup the office PC to an external HDD - and upload 1 copy of important images to a location on the net - plus lower resolution images on my website.

    Just be aware that if all those things you mentioned are in the one please then you may be vulnerable to fire / theft / natural disaster.

    Aw-w-w, Scott, I guess the y'all gave me away. Born and bred in the Deep South. That is the amazing part of the internet - to be connected with people from all over the world.

    Colin - yes that is a very important issue. I am actually making duplicates to place in a safebox. This spring we had a tornado come through our area, while our house did not sustain damage our neighbors did. I am also coping old photos and putting them on an external hard drive....some things just cannot be replaced.

    Jeannie, my wife was born in Alexandria, Louisiana.

    I store my images on my computer and duplicate them on a pair of external hard drives. I also have a good selection of some of my best images on http://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/

    Has anyone ever stored their photos on a CF card that you designated to be for only storage?

    PS Richard - Alex (that's what folks around here call Alexandria) is about 80 miles from me.

    Hi Jeannie,

    CF Cards are really only for temporary storage -- definately NOT a good idea to rely on them as a long-term solution. DVDs are probably the cheapest -v- safest option (if they're stored at room temperature, and out of the light).
