Beautiful detail and well captured! I love the wood tones, Willie!
Exquisitely made image.
Richness of tone; Perfect exposure; Bringing up the grain of the wood perfectly. Wonderful composition with the leading lines flowing at just the right angles through the picture.
Lovely image, Willie.

Many thanks, my dear friends. This is a personal 5-image assignment that I set for myself to get back in the groove. More of 4 remaining images later.
I also like the fact that your watewrmark doesn't take a bite out of image! Looking forward to seeing the other four images! Will they be in this thread or was the shot of your son that was just posted one of them?
I may not be the best one to judge oversharpening, Donald, as I am still learning the fine points, but in the lightbox I can see the fine detail without any halos or noise. In fact, it is amazing how much detail is visible in the wood grain, thumbscrews, and even the weave pattern of the cloth it is resting on.
Probably not, Donald. I only sharpened on the luminosity layer so this is as normal as I can sharpen it. The softbox lighting is really giving me good detail on the wood grain and I was impressed that a DIY softbox can achieve this lighting. I am as close as I can bring it to the violin without blowing out the highlights.
I forgot to tell you, my little 50mm f/1.8 can really give sharp images at f/16.
Very nice set of images...
Wow Willie, you have posted some fantastic images in the past but the detail, lighting, composition, - everything about this series takes my breath away. Others may be able to offer constructive criticism, but these are way beyond anything that I can see how to improve! The really nice thing is that you've done all the work and I - well, I can just sit back and enjoy! I feel almost guilty!
Great job.
Wonderful set of images, Willie!!!
