    Hello all

First of all I would like to say that I'm very thankful for finding CiC. I stumbled upon it when doing a Google search on Digital Photography. I love the site as it has a lot of very useful information and tools for someone that is just getting started such as me. I've always had a passion for photography and knew that I couldn't do what I wanted with a regular point-n-shoot. I've recently acquired a Nikon d600 and I'm constantly referencing the site to figure out how best to use it in Manual mode. Thankfully memory cards can be reused and I'm not going through countless amounts of 35mm film to figure out what I'm doing. I'm excited to begin my new adventure and I'm looking forward to the advice and the subsequent pictures that I will be taking and sharing with the community. Thank you to the admins and organizers for providing a place for me and others to learn and share in our hobbies, careers and passions.

    Regards,

    Gregg

Thank you Gregg and thanks also for deciding to join up on CiC.

You show that you have the first and, probably, the most important ingredient for being able to produce high quality images - passion. Everything else can be learned. But if that passion doesn't exist, then the learning just becomes a mechanical exercise.

So, I hope you continue to enjoy CiC and do pitch right in to use it to help your own development. There are lots of folks on here very willing to give you whatever help and advice you wish.

    Hi Gregg,

Warm welcome to the CiC foums from me too.

You're not wrong about film cost, I'd be broke if I'd shot my 40,000+ digital exposures on film

    Cheers,

Thanks Donald. Passion I have. And from what I've seen the members are very helpful.

Dave, it's hard to imagine not having an LCD screen to look at the results of a tweek. And wow, 40K+ is a ton of pictures.

Hi Gregg and welcome to CiC. Don't be shy about posting your pictures here, we'd love to see them and we'll post comments & constructive criticisms if you like. This site is all about learning how to turn passion into meaningful results. If you haven't as yet, take a look at the following link HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?.

    Frank,

Thanks for the link. I found that today when I was adding a photo to a mini competition. Certainly not the best pic to add but pretty in my opinion.

As an aside I'm looking forward to seeing what develops (no pun intended) from your post about Kinkade paintings.

Thanks Gregg! The Kinkade project is one that I have been thinking about for some time now but aside from the technical aspects of getting the light right, getting an image that includes more than one of the attributes of a Kinkade painting in a single image poses it's own problems.

After all, Kinkade can composite as many of his signature attributes as he wants when the image is 'photographed' in his mind! LOL! I really don't want to start with a composit image if there is some other way. <sigh>
