Re: Eye in the sky
I like #1 the most. I always like dramatic sky's.

Re: Eye in the sky
Is the second one as you shot it, Tono?
I think it might work better if the horizon was level. That tree at a strange angle seems a bit offputting to me. I keep trying to turn my head to look squarely at it.
And I think I would try a little crop to the bottom and right side of the third shot. Not a lot though.
But they are all dramatic scenes.

Re: Eye in the sky
yes, that's the way I shot it....
I was trying to get more of the sunlight beam in the picture. the portrait style shot has more of it in the picture, but I was losing the wet shiny look of the road, which I liked because of giving sense to the picture and also because contains similar tones to those on the sky.
It was an idea. That's why I'm submitting it to the knowledgeable guys of CiC. If it makes no sense maybe I won't try it again
On the first picture I wasn't sure about cropping the wall of the building out or not...

Re: Eye in the sky
Yes, Tono, I was wondering about the same thing.
To some extent it balances the tree and if you want to keep the same height to width ratio you would also need to crop too much from the top or bottom.
However, I think you should be able to crop it out and still retain a 3 x 2 ratio without losing too much from top and/or bottom.
Personally, as it is easy to do and, providing you are working with a copy won't change the original, I think I would give it a go then decide which is best when you can see both options side by side.

Re: Eye in the sky
Regarding the right side of #1 - I would leave it in so that both the left and right are "balance"

Re: Eye in the sky
Yes that one removes the slight 'heaviness' from the bottom and side.
