No, your not the only one. I am trying to do something with a pic where the flash failed to fire;did my best with detail and noise and asked fotki folk for possible improvements, and as if by magic one of them produced a painting that is absolutely marvellous.
I would have asked here but not many here will edit others pics. I think you have a clever solution Kris.![]()
Hi Kris, I can't often get out to shoot so I practice post processing on the older (and sometimes the current) mediocre images. Here's one SOOC that I really liked but wasn't shooting RAW or doing HDR at the time so it has a lot going against it.
Here's what it looks like after making several copies, changing the brightness and contrast and blending bits and pieces back in using layers.
Still not great. You can't make a salon image out of a snapshot but you 'might' get it looking good enough to keep it out of the trash bin!
If anyone has any suggestions for improvement, I'm always ready to learn new tricks!![]()
Hi Frank,
I think you improved it a lot! Especially considering that you had to work with a jpg.
But I look at things a little differently - if it's just mediocre, I don't bother to make it look better - I'm trying for a totally different look, just to see what I can come up with. I'm not even trying to stay "true to nature"
Here is one in the intermediate stage - I'm still playing with it on and off.
Current stage of the edit:
and the beginning stage of version 2:
Not everyone's taste, I know, but I love the weird looks I sometimes get when I start using plugins and blending modes.
Hmmmmmm.... you've just given me an idea. A totally different look. Now 'that' has interesting possibilities. Thank you!![]()
