C+C
I would appreciate some C+C on this shot. The conditions were a little bit windy and so made the sea a bit choppy. I was trying to set up a shot using ND8 filter which I have just bought. Please comment on composition and anything else that might help me.
Thanks in advance
John

Re: C+C
One thing that grabs my attention right off is the horizon. Needs rotation to the left. I like the forground intrest. I think maybe in pp try and cut the haze just a bit. Maybe black clipping points and a little contrast boost. I think there is promise there.
There is also a small dust bunny just above the mountain ridge far left.
For me, a shot of waves like this....I would use either a faster shutter to make the wave crisp or a much slower one to smooth them all the way out. Comes down to personal choice though.

Thanks for you advise . Not sure how I could reduce the haze. Have you got any suggestions? I didn't see the dust top left thanks for that.

Re: C+C
What PP do you use? I am sure someone that has a better knowledge of your particular program can give you a quick how to. I use Gimp and honestly it still takes me a little to remember how in there. lol

Re: C+C
Hi John
I find that the addition of a colour burn layer can reduce the haze effect. I hope you don't mind but here is your image with a duplicate layer added, set to colour burn with Opacity 35%.
There are a few techniques for haze reduction discussed here
Cheers Dave

I don't mind at all. It certainly reduced the haze.
Thanks for your input and the link. I will work through it
Thanks

Re: C+C
Hi John,
Nice image. Well I want to say exactly what Paul said in his first comment.
Except, I like the way you have captured those waves. This is something different that I have seen.
In CS4, you can use adjustment layers to take care of the haze. Go to Image>Adjustments> Level & then working with the clips on extreme ends. & pushing up the contrast using curves.
But I would suggest you to start with straightening the horizon. Select the primary layer & press Ctrl+T and rotate the picture as desired. Hope this helps.

Does anyone else find the white triangle an attention grabber?
I just can't decide if it is good or bad.
Also, you may want to separate the far shore from the near tree when applying anti-haze or it could lose detail in the blacks.
There seems a lack of sharp detail 'over there', possibly just the trees in the wind
