Yes, very soft shades.
I see no EXIF, but beautiful, I would like to see it in color too. I'm not sure what I'm seeing in the pedals, is it a pattern? Love the layout.
EXIF: Nikon D70, 50mm lens, ISO 200, f/22 at 1/400 second.
A magnificent portrait of a rose, brings out the softness and delicacy of the species. Deserves a fine print!
this is beautiful and delicate, great image
Hi Willie! I get the feeling that this is a color image even though it looks monochrome. Is that because of the way it was processed?
OK, I can't hold it in any longer. I've never seen a rose this delicate. If you would be so kind, in general terms, how was it processed?
I normally dont comment on flowers… but this is… wow!
Hello, Frank. Much of the work is done in camera. I'd say 90% camera then 10% PP work. I used my DIY 12" softbox really up close to make the shot of the petals as soft as possible. The exposure was adjusted by adding only 1/3 EV extra and that's it. Processed the added softness using Calvin Hollywood's technique then straight conversion to B&W with some grain added. Hope this helps.
To help you further, this is the colored shot:

Can you imagine just falling backwards with your eyes closed and having that image softly catch you? Of your many great images, this one must rank highly. Bullseye, Willie!
Great! i can only aspire to capture such images.
Well captured, congrats!
I've watched you improve steadily since I joined the forum in May and I must say that all of your hard work is paying off. This image and your F-curve. rendition of the violin are among my all-time favorites of images of common things seen in an uncommonly perfect vision.
Thanks Willie!
Just -----WOOOWWWW!!!
