That is very, very nice indeed.
Needs to be viewed at the larger size in the lightbox.
Lovely balance to the composition.
Oh yes, I do like that.
Beautiful image, Chris. I like it very much.
In my humble opinion Christopher.........Outstanding
2 stiched together?? how do you do that!
That scene almost looks like two separate images. Total tranquility on the left and turbulent water on the right. A perfect angle, it works well.
I'm wondering which side was chosen by the approaching duck.

There is special software for this, James. Or create a double sized empty background layer then paste a couple of images as layers and fiddle with them until they appear perfectly aligned.
I have a friend who specialises in massive panoramma prints which are over 10 ft in length and contain many individual photos lined up to form a perfect image. One of his latest compositions included 40 separate shots.
But he has become an expert in this technique now - I wouldn't like to try that many.
Great shot Chris, I love it.
I'm envious, wish I had something like that nearby to photograph !
Cheers Dave
Very nice shot Chris,
Just noticed that the right-hand image appears to be a little softer than the left though -- just wondering why you shot them at F4? Was it hand-held?
Lovely and peaceful image despite the turbulence at the right side. I'd love to live in the brick two-story house with the gray roof but, certainly wouldn't turn down any of them...
Wonderful photograph, Chris.
Philip
A lovely tranquil image Chis with much to enjoy across the scene but I don't see the softness that Colin mentions, perhaps it's just different perceptions.
Thanks for all your kind commentsa.
James - I use a program called Panorama Factory to do my stiching, it is very efficient and not too expensive. You can also stitch in Photoshop.
Colin - The f/4 was because these were handheld and I try to take all my handheld shots at at least 1/125 to avoid camera shake.
Colin - I am ashamed to confess I did not have my tripod with me. It was getting quite dark and f/4 was the best I could achieve and still have a shutter speed of 1/125. I should perhaps have increased the IOS but in the heat of the moment.....
It's one of the laws of photography I think: "the beauty of the scene and quality of light is inversely proportional to the gear we have with us at the time"
(It's a bit like if things are a bit quiet at work, just go get lunch -- the phone is sure to ring. If things are SUPER QUIET at work, just plan a few days off ...)
This image is yet another reminder that it seems everyone else lives in the place I wish I did.
Hi Chris,
EXCELLENT shot; really lovely - I just love it as it is.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it was shot from the suspension bridge, wasn't it?
I'm thinking, depending on traffic, road and foot, plus wind, that they tend to 'move about a bit' and a tripod might not be that practical a solution from this vantage point
Certainly Rebecca and I found that when cars go over, resting your arms on the bridge to steady a shot was completely counter productive.
Cheers,
