My first post. Twig, our cat. A smart animal, and a good friend.
Haven't figured out how to synchronize my screen with photoshop, so it will be interesting to see what shows up. Used Nikon D60. Mostly automatic.
Not sure where exactly I am supposed to be adding animal shots to the forum. Hope this is it. ;-)

A nice pussy pic Pam; a good idea to get close in, though would have no problem with seeing whole of her too!

Not quite sure why we have got a sub-thread on posting animal pics, I suppose 'people and pets' has come to cover a huge variety of of things.

You get better postings if you have another website or gallery somewhere and can put the URL of a pic in the box that comes up when you use the 'add image' icon (4 from right bottom line above)

Oh and should have started with "Welcome to the site" always so nice when folks introduce themselves with an image and some info on camera and software being used; welcome Pam!!

Hi Pam,

Yes, this is as good a place as any for pet/animal pics at the moment.

Initially it took me a while to get used to the idea that unlike a lot of forums, CiC doesn't have gallery space for each member. When people have something to show, they just start a new thread, or like this, add to an existing 'open' one. Chris is right though, you'll soon get through the attachment limit, so it's advisable, if you haven't already, to find somewhere to host your images elsewhere, then direct link them into posts here.

Nice picture, by the way, and I'll see you over in the welcome thread shortly,

Welcome Anchi. It looks as if your focus point was somewhere in right half of frame and a better idea to get it nearer the eye (all/next animals).There is a small hair just in front of eye that suggests that one or both of you moved during the shot. FocusMagic is a very good plug-in to Photoshop/Elements that could well correct this. You get 10 free goes before paying up, ($45) http://www.focusmagic.com/download.htm. One of the very few things I keep PSE on my computer for.

Hi Anchi,

Well done, you got the image posted inline OK then.

In terms of the picture, Chris has said everything I'd say. I'd thoroughly support his recommendation of Focus Magic (FM); I see a few pixels drift in the clockface directions of 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock, or 60 degrees if FM starts counting from the top and goes clockwise (I can't remember), which FM should correct nicely.

Depending what post production software you have, you might also want to try a local contrast enhance with the UnSharp Mask (USM), try 15%, 70px, 1 Threshold. If this method is new to you, have a read of LOCAL CONTRAST ENHANCEMENT tutorial.

Ahmad - I have just tried FocusMagic movement and it is NOT the right thing on this one. Either gentle unsharp mask or high pass do improve the detail a lot. Much better done on the original sized file.

I've tried unsharp mask several time, so it must be educational to see and learn how it should be used. I do hope you can also comment and critique my post at photo.net. I use Nikon Capture NX2 not Photoshop, and setting values are different. Have you looked at the tutorial https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tu...sharp-mask.htm

Both sites give further links. You really need to work on original size files, not the reduced version for forum. I have run through your website and am sending a PM; suspect a problem with the 55-200 lens you are using.

a baby Mini Horse born on March 8th. Here she's having her mandatory TV time. She'll go into the TV room and wait for everyone to join her. Rose will then climb onto the couch and lay down, here she's on her back, napping while being petted for at least two hours.

I don't have photos, yet, but Rose also follows us up and down the stairs between the first and second floors. It's a great sight to see a Horse manage stairs.
