    Hi from Argyllshire

Hi, newly joined from Argyllshire, Scotland. Been taking photos for about 50 years, mostly with Pentax cameras. Dont like auto-focus, auto-exposure, auto-anything really. I drive a truck and fix things when they're broken. K33F

Hello there and welcome from across the other side of the country. Where are you? From my shinty-playing days in Lochaber and since, I've always considered Argyllshire probably the most beautiful part of Scotland. Love it.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you find that you like the way in which CiC operates and the people on here are more than willing to share knowledge and experience in order to help others with their learning.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

    All the best,
    Hi Dave,
I held out from going digital till the *istD came out. Cant believe how much I paid for that, ouch. When it fried its pop-up flash I got the K10D, sold the *istD, and that's where I am now. I used a range of SLR's, from the Spotty F, the P30 and various other K mount bodies, mostly with AGFA CT18 reversal film for my own stuff, some monochrome, self-rolled and self processed, then a short spell as a wedding photog, using Kodacolor 100 and sending out for D&P.
Digital is surely convenient and cheap to run, but I do miss the saturation you could get from a CT18 slide underexposed 1 or 2 stops. Gorgeous. Still getting to grips with digital's reduced DR, I dont use any of the gimmicks, prefer to do all the work pre-shutter-push, and visualising the result. Old habits die hard.
My particular interests are tinkering with macro, flowers mostly, and landscapes. I mostly use prime lenses and invariably manual focus.

I joined this forum because it looks a friendly place and I have followed the Cambridge tutorials with interest fro some time. Thanjs for having me aboard.
