Hi,
how did you do the picture background?
Robert
You mean in PP or for the shot?
PP was minimal - just a bit of contrast adjustment, denoise and sharpening. A small crop to place it in a better position.
For the shot - it was taken at 5.6, 300mm. Weather was very overcast so had to push ISO to 1600 to get enough speed to kill the breeze. There was good separation between subject and background but @300mm the background would have been knocked out anyway even if the background had been closer.
Bobo,
The Strands has some visible halo to it. Did you bump up the Clarity on PP?
Thanks Chriss. Clarity not used. Did not notice the black haloing before but do now that you mention it.
Here is the same pic at default ACR settings ie Blacks 5, Brightness 50, Contrast 25, sharpening turned off. Except for noise removal and a slight crop no other pp has been done on this one.
How does one give it a bit of a pop without introducing any halos?
Thanks.
That's better
Thanks Jim.
Thanks Chriss and Dave - will redo and see what comes up. Will post later.

Thanks Chriss - noticed that and redid and replaced the redo just as you posted I think. Sorry about that,
The right side is fixed.
Not sure what you mean about the "other" images. I do sometimes take such type of pics. Will have to search and see.
I did try a portrait crop but there is not enough "breathing" space left and right so kept the wide version.
Yes, this updated image is perfect!
I am not sure if it was your image but I did see a similar image few months back and I liked it a lot. Too lazy to find it hehehe.
by the way i just saw this: "How does one give it a bit of a pop without introducing any halos?"
I believe you just answered your questions. The updated image Pops out and no halos to it.
cheers!
Thanks very much Chriss for mentoring me through this.
Learned a lot about haloing.
