Went to bed late with a tie, awoke with a win. Weird.

A lot of good work in this comp.

    Re: Moonlight Sonota

Congratulations, Chris. That is not an easy scene to get properly exposed and processed properly to keep the blacks black and the whites visible but not so bright that you lose the feeling of night time, and you've done that very well here. I also like your point of view, as it gives some depth to the image, as does the depth of field. Well done. Paul

    Re: Moonlight Sonota

The real ldifficulty of this shot came in the exposure. The foreground boats are all done by the light of a full moon, while the back lights are obviously big old streetlight tungstens. It took a ten second exposure to balance the two lights. I wanted it as a color image, but I couldn't get a decent color balance between the two quite different lighting conditions.

I liked your image for its reflective qualities but feel had you burned the left and right side trees a hair more, you would have allowed the lighter part of the sky above that area to push the foreground forward a bit more and strengthened the contrast. I do tend more toward higher contrast, so my suggestions may not work for you.

Not to disparage anyone's image on here, but I really saw potential in Sarabi's isolation image. This work reminded me of some of Manthos more recent work. I am attaching an edit I made to your image, that could be another way of looking at your shot.

I felt the railing on the right side was unecessary and that it was tilted just a bit on a leftward downhill slope. I corrected both and went to a square crop, then opened up the exposure a bit on the figure and added a bit of depth to the sky...I thought perhaps by darkening the top edge, it would help to contain the image and direct the eye only to the figure.
