You've really nailed the focus and exposure on that. I was wondering why you chose to go with that aspect ratio. Is this the full frame; i.e. no cropping? I wondered if we needed so much air around the subject, particularly at the bottom?

I agree with Donald... A tighter crop would bring out the details of the bird even more. It's a beautiful shot!

    Bob,
Nothing more to add to the comments above; which I do agree with. Just a few small 'tweaks' to this picture and it would change from a good picture to something very special. Well done.

Very sharp image bob. Hawks are tough to get close to. I agree with the others on a tighter crop.

Perhaps a little more room on the right side. I think a horizontal framing would have worked better with this shot. You could have given some room on the right and some extra room, for the hawk to look into, at the left. It's always good to leave a little room around the edges, just incase you decide to print and frame it.

Great capture Bob, wish I could get that close to what I assume is a wild one.

    Well done,

    Hawk on a wire

Thanks everybody for your kind words.

Yes it was a "wild" bird. Here's another as he took off as I was trying to get a little closer.

    Camera was a Sony A700 with a Tamron 70-210 2.8 lens, handheld.
