In many ways, Paul, with those muted tones this seems more like a sunrise than a sunset; apart from the direction of light.

I wonder if cropping a bit of the sky from the first one would look better. Possibly a little 'top heavy' at the moment; I'm not sure. Perhaps a 3 x 2 ratio?

For me, the 2nd is a much stronger image than the 1st. I do like the very muted tones in the first, but I don't think the image has a clear centre point and, as a result, my eyes wander all over the place trying to work out where they should start from.

I think they both need to be cooler for a morning shot. And a little more exposure and contrast might help. Maybe not. A quick edit.
