    Great shots!

I've got to get down there next year! I've cycled past these farms, and the colour is magnificent. You did a great job of capturing the canvas.
You'll gather from these comments that I like to crop! My suggestions:
Pic2--drop top horizon to eliminate bodies in top left corner
Pic3--cut left side (telephone pole) and a little foreground to eliminate the more obvious green stems
Pic7--drop top horizon to show only bands of colourful tulips
Pic8--well, this just makes me silent.

pics 1,8 &10 including the farm buildings and hills in the background would be my favourites, of which 1 seems the most successful overall composition.

They are a funny sort of flower for photography, best by the thousand as you have in your collection. We usually have a few turning up (or even occasionally planted) in the garden, but have more or less given up on them as lots of others seem more interesting, but do look inside:

Thanks for the comments ... I really did not notice some of the problems you mentioned..

    Re: Skagit Tulip Festival 2009

    Ajith,

I agree with Chuck, they're all pretty good, my personal favourites are 1, 3, 4, 8 and 10.

I'd agree with SRH regarding #2, plus on #9, I'd lose the dark red in bottom left corner, maybe just by painting it green, I think cropping it off would spoil the composition.

Shadows on the tulips and the grass in left foreground are the minor gripes I have with #6. (No major gripes )

The only other request (for next time), and I appreciate that you've kept the size down due to there being 10 pics in the post, would be to make them the full 680px width where possible.

Overall, they're darn good as usual, well done,

No4 is on the money for me. Nice composition and taken at an unusual angle. The yellow and green with the blue sky makes a excellent combination. The only bit I would personally change is to clone out the wisps of cloud particularly bottom centre. I would be very pleased with myself if I had taken this shot.

I am going to try to get to Royal Horticultural Show at Tatton Park in Cheshire this year...your images have inspired me.

Thanks Dave, it was very sunny and I did not take my external flash to do a fill in flash, the direction of the sunlight was also worst...

I agree with Wirefox on the favorite. It's Pic 4 for me also. However, I LIKE the wisp of cloud at the bottom horizon. The receding lines lead the eye there to discover the cloud. Well, that's why they have horse races--differences of opinion.

    Hi Joe,

I agree with you, I feel #4 needs something at the point of convergence and a cloud is as good as anything, natural if nothing else. If not that, I dunno; a person or a building?

    Cheers,

Amazing color in all of these. #4 is the clear winner for me.

I have now re-edited that one and explained the difficulties and work-around in my NX2 gallery which also contains the finished result. This also makes nonsense of post 14 in thread Histograms as I suspected, sorry GUI

Ajith, if you have another chance at this location, I wonder what Pic 4 would look like with the furrow between the rows of tulips going from lower left corner toward the upper right, rather than the more static centered composition?

    Just a thought.

    Joe
