Even a blind dog can have a Merry Christmas if he has a "furever" home...
Peli, a one year old Maltese who was blind since birth has been adopted. He will be going to his new "furever" home on December 17, 2011. Peli's good friend, Trixie, a young Maltese cross of undetermined origin will be going to the same home to keep Peli company and help him adjust...
Peli's story: I picked up Peli from the Apple Valley, California, Animal Shelter and brought him to a canine eye specialist in Los Angeles. He had been a stray in Apple Valley and the shelter personnel thought that his lack of sight was due to the numerous foxtails that had scratched his cornea. However, the little guy had been blind from birth beause his eyes never developed. Someone dumped him on the streets but he is a survivor and made it. That is me holding Peli at the eye doctor. We bonded immediately.

Peli had been adopted soon after he arrived as a foster at our home but, his new mom was moving into a new home and we thought that Peli would be better off staying as a foster at our home until the move was made so he would not need to get used to two homes. He is a darling littlr boy and is quite brave and independent. In this rather long video, we see him running around in my yard, just like a dog who can see..
