Mute swan

I've been trying out an old manual focus 70-210mm zoom lens.

This is one from this morning at a local pond.

Very nice capture Dave; you can almost feel the soft feathers

It's unusual, but I like it.

Good exposure, although I'm not sure it has as wide a tonal range as it might, the brightest white shows as 239, but I'm being quite fussy - it still looks good.

That lens may be old but she's got a lot of life left in her. May I ask what your aperature and zoom where? Great details and silky colors, I love it.

interesting shot.
You have certainly captured a sharp clear image; for my personal taste, it could have had a slightly larger space on both sides as it looks (to me) a bit tight in the frame. But a well executed picture all the same. Well done.

For manual focus nice and clear. Love the curve and colouring of the neck. Agree with John just a wee bit tight for my liking.

The settings were f9@1/1600s and an ISO of 800.

The EXIF data says the focal length was 200mm however, as the lens has no electrical connections the camera can't read the focal length directly.

When using such lenses on the K5 you dial in the focal length to let the IS know the focal length you are using. As it is a zoom lens I used the setting in the camera that was nearest to the top end of the zoom range, in this case 200mm. I believe this is where the 200mm in the EXIF data came and I don't think it relates to the actual focal length used.
