Treasure Trove - The Perfect Black and White Print
I found a treasure trove of tips and techniques at Epson Print Academy. One of the articles led me to Jeff Schewe's webpage where he has a detailed technique for high quality conversions to black and white. There is both a descriptive .pdf and a .psd action for the tool. See http://schewephoto.com/workshop/.
I tried this out and the action works perfectly but I can't figure out the steps to use the layers and channels created to actually adjust the image. I'm sure I missed something in the .pdf description, which is somewhat abreviated.
Is anyone familiar with this article? Can you explain it?

I was reading the 'Real World Camera RAW' article as a review and to see if I could pick up a few pointers (I did!) and pulled up a 'throw away' image for practicing with. This was shot with a Takumar 1.4/50 on a m4/3 camera. Agreed that this will never win any prizes, but it does demonstrate what you can do with a second class image and some PP.
