Element 9 - crop

I have the book from Scott Kelby "Photoshop Element 9 and I found out the following.
I downloaded the pictures connecting to his book, especially to the subject "cropping"
When I click from the top menu bar "image>>Crop" I can create a nice rectangular, but when I select "crop" from the side toolbar it create a rectangular on an angle.
Can somebody explain me why?

Hi Ronny

Are you sure there's a crop tool on the side toolbar ? I can only see a Straighten tool and if you use this you do get a rectangle on the screen which is at an angle. But it's for straightening, not cropping.

On elements 9 there is both a crop tool (looks like a square with edges crossing, and a diagonal line from top right to bottom left), as well as a straighten tool (2 rectangles with front one level and back one offset). Quick keys are C for crop, and P for straighten

Ken you are quite correct. I couldn't see it initially because it is one of those tools that has two options (Crop and Recompose) and mine was set to the Recompose option. Thanks for that.

Given Ronny's problem, I suspect he may be using the Straighten tool ?

I guess you guys are right.
After reading the emails I went back and got it corrected.
I think Scott Kelby book is good to understand if I know all the tools. From now on I will look at all the tool options, when something goes wrong.
