Re: Approaching Grizzly Bear
Jamie,
This is a stunner. The clarity and detail are amazing. He looks menacing. Very well shot.

Re: Approaching Grizzly Bear
Excellent shot Jamie. I love the colouring of the trees really helps and puts the bear in its environment. Nice space around the bear as well.

Really nice shot Jaime, but that bear looks hungry! How did you escape?

Re: Approaching Grizzly Bear
Great photo. Even with a 500mm lens that looks too close for comfort.

Great shot! How fast did you have to run to get away after you took the photo?

Re: Approaching Grizzly Bear
Great shot! Congratulations for standing your ground. I am not sure if I would have!
When I studied cinematography at the University of Southern California, many of our instructors were Hollywood film people. One was a cinematographer for Disney Wildlife Films.
He told the story of shooting a grizzly sow and her cubs and that one cub ventured so that the photographer was between him and his mom! She charged and the photographer ran to the security of his vehicle. He made it but, since his keys were in the front pocket of a tight pair of jeans, he had problems extracating them. Momma bear ruined his camera and he showed us still images of the damage she did to his vehicle. It looked like it was worked over with a fire axe. He also stated that he had the choice that morning of taking an open Jeep or a covered one. He chose the covered Jeep because the weather was inclement. What a fortunate choice.

Okay, so you managed to get it to look at the camera. But it doesn't seem to have said 'cheese' when you told it to.
Superb shot. Congratulations.
