    Digital Christmas Card

Based on encouragement from what Jupiterlush did in The Art Of Doing Nothing, I am trying to create a digital Christmas Card for my family. I tried to make the Christmas ornament as realistic as possible and include as many family members as possible. Unfortunately, I don't have reasonably current pictures of some of them and tons of pictures of others.

Thanks Al, for the link to the tutorial!

That handsome couple in the center of the ornament are the best looking. What do you think Frank?

This is a really neat idea for a Christmas card. I just may steal the idea for my next year's card and fill it with pictures of my Maltese rescue dogs...

BTW: My wife wondered how you glued all thise images on the ball so neatly. LOL, really she did ask me that

LOL! Thanks Richard. Not to sure about the guy in the middle image but that's one hot babe he's with!

Tell your wife it's easy if you use double face tape, just like scrapbooking!

No surprise that the avitar is a smart as...er... donkey!

Lovely! I like your ornament hook much better than the digital one I did and you have a 'real' tree which looks beter as well. Nice job!

    Thanks, Frank.
Looking at it again, the ball on the left hand bottom has a dark halo that really shouldn't be there.
Oh well, back to the drawing board (as soon as it's Lunch time) I'm at work.

    hi Frank

This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing! I was concentrated looking at the pictures so I didn't noticed your tree was "fake".
    Good job!

Kris, yours is also very good. I like that you also put pictures on the balls on the background.

    Good work Kris and Frank!
How long did this take you - I try to limit my 'photoshop' time.

    Re: Digital Christmas Card

Hi Brian. It moves pretty quickly once you get setup. The time consuming part is selecting, resizing and arranging the 25 or so photos in a box. I just resized them all square to the same size. After that it's a breeze. Took me an hour or so in total but I could do it faster now.

You may want to just watch the tutorial that Jupiterlush provided (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKbUM5NLJ_g).

A little longer than I anticipated. Didn't mind the time, I love trying out things in PhotoShop.
I used a collage program to put the pictures together. (About 20 minutes or so).
For me the most time consuming part was to get them super imposed on top of the original balls in the picture and make it look more or less natural.
It took me about 2 hours - and I'm working on another one that I will use to send as an e-card to my relatives in Europe.
Should be ready for preview in another hour or so....
    Stay tuned!

    Re: Digital Christmas Card

After seeing all the great Christmas Photo Ornaments posted by Al and Kris, I realized that an artificial tree just doesn't hack it. The ornament was reprocessed with a 'real' tree to see how it would come out.

    Digital Christmas Card

I tried one with three ornaments but it was just too busy so I went back to a single ornament.

    Looks great!
I cheated on the back ground - It was scanned from I Christmas Card I received a few years ago.
Since there were 3 balls, I decided to just use them all.
