This mornings sunrise over Seattle
Finally got out of the house early enough on a day that I was not required to. C&C always welcome.

Thank you both! Actually the second is not a crop but a seperate shot. I really like the wash of sun over the city, although to keep that wash of light I can't quite get the contrast up without it's loss.
Oh, and Rob....right on. That was my hope in the composition of this shot. As soon as I saw it I had to swap lenses.

Re: This mornings sunrise over Seattle
The sky in the first picture is great, i would have loved to see that! But as a picture, the second is really beautiful. I too like the composition, mountain and the buildings somehow seem to be in balance. Eyes are drawn to the silhouet, and long after that i saw what's in the lowest part, which was not as interesting as the rest of the photo, but cropping that might not improve the composition, so.. But all in all, it's a really great shot!
Buildings seem to get more light in the second picture, is there much time difference between these to shots?

Thank you Donald, Chuck and Reima.
Reima, there is 21 minutes between these shots. Also I did try a couple crops and it does for me lose too much of the comp.

Yes Jon, the park just west of Queen Ann Ave. I got there a couple minutes later than I thought and was surprised to find 15 other guys standing around waiting for the light. lol

Great shots Paul! You could likely blend the sky from the first one into the second and get the best of both images...

Thanks Frank. As for blending them.....I have a third which is more like the first, but it lacks the light through the city and honestly I don't practice sky replacement. I adjust but only what is caught originally. Just my preference.

Thanks Rob, and I did not have to freeze to do it! It has been below normal temps here all month and today shot up to 50 degrees! Hope you guys are not suffering to much on the other side of the hill there.

Haven't been to site for a while. Glad I have done so now or else I may have missed this superb piece of Art. Fantastic shot! Reminds me of the terrific high tech space fiction impressions from films about the future, which I love.

Great shot Paul. Did you ever think of making more pictures (same settings, focal length) from the same point on a different time, weather condition or season? Could be a very interessting sequence.

Beautiful images. I prefer the first one because it conveys the wide open space of the PNW and its beautiful skies a little better. Looks like Boeing Field was fogged in (I used to our fly corporate jets into there). I like the color of the fog bank in the middle distance. I've seen many sunset shots from your vantage point but very few sunrises... none that I recall this impressive and beautiful. Good job!

Inspiring. If the Seattle Tourist Authority doesn't call to license those pics., they're nuts...
