Ali - what a wonderfully natural portrait. I love the look in the eyes and that humour that is threatening to break out into a laugh. Beautifully shot, too - sharp and well framed.

Colin - If I ever take portraits as good as yours, I'll eat....I'm not sure, but something, anyway. You have a real skill both with the camera and with the subjects in getting them to the stage where they can relax enough for you to capture expressions like this.

    Thanks Myra,

I haven't tried horses yet - although IN THEORY it really shouldn't be a lot different, although don't expect studio lighting (I'm not going to take the chance!).

Well Kit - when you finally get down this way, I'll teach you in about 20 minutes (10 shooting, 10 retouching) (and you can do both!) (although don't think of using me as a subject -- it would invalidate the warranty on the lens!) (But thanks for the kind words anyway!).

Thanks a lot, Kit! I just ambushed him when he was talking and that is why he has that "OK, are you done, we were talking here" look on his face...

    Really beautiful, Colin, as usual!

Is her skin so smooth naturally or you have done some work on it. Do you do the usual blurring and superimposing the layer on top of the original or you use the clarity on ACR?

    Hi Ali,

    Thanks

I used a little "negative clarity" whilst in ACR, and also demo'd the masked / blurred layer to her Mum. To be honest, I think it's slightly over-softened ... I used the usualy amount, but I think it needed a little less opacity due to the effect of the negative clarity.

    Antonio and Dave,

Thanks a lot! He really means business, not sure where the fascination comes from but this is the second birthday party he is coming back from with Pirate theme goodies.
