And the little flower fits the image very well.
However I would crop differently placing her a little more to the upper right corner. But if you do so, you would have too much of the chair...
We can't have everything in Life can we ? :):)
It is very sharp and full of mid tones :)
Thank you for bringing up this thread from the ashes :)

Please Colin I can't edit anymore post number 751 to link to your lessons... Can't you do something about it ? I mean, linking more lessons on the same post.:)

I've read lots of people hating one black and whites that have a small portion with color. While sometimes it can be overdone, in my opinion, I think that it can give a cool effect. In this case, it's just beautiful.

Indeed. Here there is the subtility of the colored spot. :)

I agree with Antonio about the shot being very sharp and also full of midtones.
About the crop, the only thing I see is the little white triangle on the right lower corner, but if you try to crop that out, then the shot becomes a nSCP and no one wants that ;)

Thanks everyone for your comments, it is much appreciated.
Ali - I agree about the lower right corner. I originally had a vignette on it but it took something away from the image as a whole.
Antonio - It is my pleasure to bring this thread back to the first page. What happened?
Shane - Thanks also for your comments.
All the best
Steve

Nothing happened Steve. Thank you. :)
I like to jump from one kind of images to another until I get - if ever - a trend for my photography.
These days I don't have many new portraits. In my last travel to Indonesia, last month I practically didn't shoot portraits.
Oh I missed my 70-200. Oh yes...
I am now in a new way - or trying to - making composites in CS with textures and so.
It's a long way to run.
However, my new way will not make me turn away from portraits but - on contrary - I will try to make them under another perspective.
I am rather tired of images all very sharp, very well composed, very perfect (caught).
I want to move to something more intellectual where I can transmit feelings, emotions etc. I was telling today in the morning at the photography shot, that I don't want to be slave of the exact tones of the faces and all that paraphernalia and madness of sharpness, colors bla, bla.
Thank you Steve. Very kind of you :)
But keep posting that I will be here to make my harsh critics. :)

Hi Antonio,
I took a liberty - it's often my way :)
I have replaced the original three links with one to the list that Colin himself updates as new lessons are added - it seemd like a good idea at the time :):)
That way we won't have an ongoing problem keeping the above post updated - did you guess I am lazy :D:D:D
Cheers,
