Well thank you kloberer.
As many of us know photography is not ruled by unbreakable rules. Actually I think the way you are learning will lead you tu better understanding of how your camera works. Although the principles in which a camera works is practically the same for every camera some factos such as: sensor noise ratio, chromatic aberration, ISO sensitivity, etc. might make settings great for a camera but not to all.
So my advice is to keep exercising in ALL modes available for your camera thus to understand even better what makes a single shooting mode "special" Additionally it might be great for you to take the same scene with different modes such as the "full auto mode" to aperture, shutter, etc. This will help you see the difference made by "auto ISO" settings, and DOF difference between shutter and aperture mode.
Anyway keep posting your achievements and/or questions.
