Great shot Joanne. Can you give any details about how the image was taken? ISO, shutter, aperture, tripod?
    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for your comments always appreciated, the image was captured as I wandered up and down the terrace section trying to follow the action. No tripod just rather cold shakey hands, ISO 3200, 1/200 and F5, shot on my EOS 550D and 100-400 IS L Lens. Just luck as usual but I know a fair amount about the game so I try to predict when there could be some interesting action and hope for the best

    Thanks for your reply Joanne.
ISO 3200 is surprising - I tend to get some noise/grain at ISO 3200. Anything in particular you are doing with noise control? I realize that resized this small it may just be sampled out, but the hockey dad in me wants to know! I try to stick with ISO 1600 or lower on my Canon 60D, and I would love to be able to have another stop of light for indoor hockey photos in particular.
On an unrelated topic, I was wondering, on that wonderful photo of your daughter you submitted in last month's contest, did you add just a bit gaussien blur to that?

    Re: Strictly Rugby!

Hi Brian, I'm not sure why the photo didn't have as much grain as expected it was really quite dark perhaps they were right under the floodlights for that shot. I did nothing other than tinker with the contrast.
On the subject of Lottie's photo, yes is the answer, I took that photo with my old Lumix and the wall behind was also in focus and was quite a distraction.
