Josh, you have a photo that has captured the colours in the sunrise very well.
However, a large proportion of the shot is dark. Admittedly dark areas are somewhat inevitable when shooting into the sun, but I think the dark fore and middle ground occupies too much of the scene.
I think the photo needs a focal point or lines to draw the eye into the picture and getting this in a woodland scene is, IMO, very difficult to do - there is usually too much going on to let the eye settle.
It is very easy to be taken over by just the colours in a sunrise. I'm going through old shots of sunrises (and sets) to weed out the ones where really there is nothing other than a pretty colour.
If you are into sunrises and/or sunsets then this is a very useful tool (and free for PCs and Macs) for seeing where in the landscape the sun will appear (or disappear).
