Monochrome Mini Competition #416

[Cambridge in Colour]

This is a monochrome-themed competition that is open to all CiC members.

ENTERING. Add your MONOCHROME/B&W image in a new post below. Make sure to change your post title to a name for your picture (click the "Go Advanced" button). Only one entry per person, and any tinted images should utilize no more than one color. For help posting images, go here.

VOTING. When this competition reaches 10 entries, a poll will be automatically added and any member may then vote. After 2 days, voting ends and the winner is determined.

Once voting begins, a new competition will be automatically started.

Notes: Please do not request feedback or comment on other images until after voting has closed, as it could be unfair to other entrants. Photos must be your own, and never entered into one of our prior competitions. We also ask that only recently taken or edited photos be used as entries (in the spirit of motivating everyone to continually improve).

I have joined CIC today. I thought I might enter the Mini Competition #416. I am confused with the Entering instructions - where is 'new post'? How do I make a 'new post'? Is this +Reply to Thread? I think I have made an entry and uploaded an image, but it has not appeared in the list.

Greetings and welcome.
I probably do not 'enter' comps as per the official instructions but this is what I do:
As you say ... click on 'Reply to thread'
Underneath the area in which you can type, click on 'Go Advanced'
Delete the 'Title' that shows and type in your own eg the title of your picture
Scroll down to 'Click here to Upload Pictures from your Computer'
'Tiny Pic' pops up
Click 'Browse' and find the photo on your computer that you wish to use. Before I do this I always reduce the picture longest side to 700 pixels but I don't think it is necessary now ... CiC reduces it if it is too large. I need to check this point.
Click 'Upload now'
You will then see the IMG code which I then copy and paste into the typing area, click 'Preview Post' and if happy then click 'Submit Reply'.

I think that's it but we do have many experts who may advise a simpler method.

Yes, you just made a post when you posted this

Regarding the missing picture, Ron's instructions are good, most new people forget to do the last bit; copy the IMG code into the post. So the picture is hosted and the post is posted, but the image never got put in the post.

One last thing, be sure to choose a Mini Comp that still says "Accepting Entries" when you do this, they only take 10 images, so the ones that say "Voting Underway" are already full.
