3D Panoramas
Weeks 4-7: I've got some catching up to do. I've been busy, is all I can say. I have images from each week though since my last post, so more on that later.
Recently I got a new iPhone 4S. What a technological marvel this thing is, especially for photography. I've just begun to scratch the surface of it's capabilities. One tool I have found, that is available via Windows, Apple iMac, and iPhones, using the iPhone camera or any camera, from P&S' to pro-cameras. It's called Photosynth and it creates 3D panoramas using as many images as you want; or as few as 4-10. I created this 3D panorama on the Fish Creek Falls ski trail in a matter of minutes on my iPhone while on cross-country skis for my lunch break.
You may have to register yourself with Photsynth to see the 3D image.
It will also create 2D Panoramas on the fly, such as this one (the quality of mine is low, but check out some of the examples on the Photsynth website; truly amazing).

Re: 3D Panoramas
Hi Toby, welcome, the image looks nice and clear and in focus, seems to be stitched together ok, except for the area on the right, how may shots?

Re: 3D Panoramas
Yep - there's definitely a section on the right that's a bit out of wack. The capture itself looks a bit dark but they may have been intended (don't see a lot of snow so it's hard for me to gauge what it should look like)
There is really so much to do with the technology that's available these days isn't there? If I tried to keep up with it all I'd never leave the computer I think!
