Early again, this morning I got a nice surprise with the weather here in Jersey, it was exceptionally warm and the fog was thick!! I went down to the local pond for some atmospheric shots:

For some reason the mist escapes me.... keep trying to capture it... still not there yet...

    Thanks

    Those have worked well.

Misty shots can be difficult. You need a good point of reference in the foreground; as you have here, but also sufficient space and a suitable landscape so it obviously looks like mist and not an exposure problem.

I find that fog in a valley but with sunny surrounds often works well but just a misty scene is difficult to photograph well. Almost all of my attempts end up getting ditched.

Very nice astro captures Ryo. I particularly like the last one. In fact, I think I can see my home star system! Makes me a bit lonesome though. LOL!

Here is one with a lil Faux coloring:

Frank, I may have got your home planet the wrong color...

@Geoff, the last in that set I used a touch of surface blur to add a lil spice to the image..

    Thanks

Now that really makes for an interesting abstract. I like it!

By the way, the color is correct. It is, after all, where the Purple People Eater calls home as well!

I was challenged by a my cohort in crime to come up with a image rivaling:

    Project 52 by Ryo

I figured I had the requisite skills to come close... and that is what I ended up with.

    Thanks
    Ryo

I hear that purple people eater's are close to being extinct in the minds of 5 year olds.... Imagination is the key to everything....

Nice images Ryo. Both sets. While the mist escaped capture, it is still a nice image. As for the purple people eaters going extinct, not as long as we have Frank. I do like the Faux coloring.

Only thing I got out to shoot this week was my car, interesting today I learned the relationship between focal length, f-stop and DOF. Not that I did not already know these were related, but that you can get a shallower DOF with a longer Focal length @ a similar f-stop. Here is a shot at 200mm from 40 feet away, at f5.6, there is some smoothing in the background:

Now to refine the process for better results!!

    Thanks

And that's the joy of this ongoing process of learning.

not sure what I was trying for here, but looking thru the lens and trying to straighten the lines of the car, was the intent.

I think that is a very lovely image. It captures a beautiful mood and atmosphere. Not sure why, but it just strikes a chord with me.

You can't say that and then not tell us what it is (apologies if you have done so elsewhere). We want to know.

My apologies, I must have forgotten to add that. This week I picked up an old OM mount Olympus 28mm f3.5 for my M4/3. It is a pretty sharp lens, all manual, no auto focus. I am also waiting on two more lenses to arrive; both Old Canon FD's 50mm Macro f3.5 and a prime 100mm f2.8. On a side note I did learn some new tricks for indoor lighting, and getting some cool colors into the photo. If you look at week 5 and this weeks entry, that nice blue is captured in post. The trick was to leave the camera White balance set for outdoor shooting, take the shot, then set the WB in ACR. In pic 5 the blue is actually the orange setting sun. I liked the blue and I think it works well.

    Thanks
    Ryo
