Re: Project 52 by Teresa (GaelicSea)
Finally getting a chance to post something. At this time of year there is still no color, so I decided to get some color from the grocery store floral shop.

These appear dark on my monitor Teresa and unfortunately, the close blossom being out of focus takes attention away from the ones that are in focus. Perhaps a flash would help both issues?
It's getting close to the time of year when you can go to your local garden shop (I use Lowe's Home Improvements) and be able to shoot a wild variety of flowers under all kinds of lighting conditions.

Re: Project 52 by Teresa (GaelicSea)
I'd be inclined to increase the exposure just to brighten the photo up a bit. I think from a composition perspective, the out of focus flower in the foreground is distracting because the focused flower is right beside it. Thinking about it, because most westerners read from left to right, I probably would have had the third bud in focus rather than the second one. This would separate the focus from the out of focus bud on the left and allow your eyes to scan naturally from left to right, finishing on a focussed flower bud.

Beautiful colour in the tulip Teresa, I think when you are taking this type of shot, to only have the number of flowers you want to shoot and have them all in the frame,(odd numbers are good) the one on the right, and at the back don't need to be there, you didn't say what F stop you were using, perhaps need to use more light and increase to get more of the arrangement in focus. love the colour, the purple contasts very well with the green leaves and black background

Re: Project 52 by Teresa (GaelicSea)
Thanks everyone for taking a look and providing feedback. Yes...I guess I was just in love with the deep rich color of the tulip and the contrast against the green and the black that I failed to see the obvious distractions!! The image was shot at f/5.6 1/25. I am not very good at what my settings should be and usually shoot at several different settings and then choose the one I like best. I will need to work on that!!
