Re: Weeds up close and personal
I have an allotment (basically a plot of land rented from local council) to grow vegetables. So, I encounter a lot of weeds! But not this close up. They are fine images that make you look at so called weeds in a different light. A much used phrase in my neck of the woods is 'a weed is just a plant that is growing in the wrong place!'. They are plants that can sustain wildlife for example teasel is one that on the allotment is considered a weed but is great for the birds. I will have to show the people down there these images perhaps they might take a different view of them!
Cheers for now

Re: Weeds up close and personal
Thank you for the comments, I'm glad I was able to inspire some to look more closely at the mundane....Oh, and You made me look!, Vicky! I had to get out my bug handbook. The red bugs on the velvetleaf pod are "Scentless Plant Bugs or Niesthrea louisianica" and are about the size of tiny green aphids. Oh, and Gary, you made me appreciate my 18 acres.....I can't imagine having to have an "allotment" to grow vegetables, but I'm glad that you have that. Do you have a cute little storage shed on it? I have seen some very nice allotments in photographs, with the most clever storage/shelters on them.

Nicely done, #1 is my favorite I think. Glad to see I am not the only one shooting weeds.

They are all great images, each for a different reason but together they make a pleasing set. Thank you for sharing, Nat!

Re: Weeds up close and personal
Nat,
18 acres! That makes my allotment seem rather small! I will see if I can get a picture up sometime. Unfortunately, we are bound by rules and regs. and cannot have sheds etc. on our plots. I can't emulate your images but I might also try and post some weed images from there as well!
Cheers for now
Gary
