Rocks and January sunlight in NW Scotland

One from the shore of Loch Ewe towards the end of a splendid day in the north west.

    All comments welcomed.

Lovely shot Dave. Have you thought about a B&W conversion? There are so many tones and textures in the rocks I think it would look good. Lovely sky and very moody. I'm also wondering about cropping just to the left of the large rock at the right. This would draw more attention to the pool of water in the rocks and then my eye would follow the rocks across the water to discover the other side and the sky. I really love the lines on both sides of the shore.

What PP program do you use. If this was my shot and I was keeping it in colour, I would want to emphasize the yellows and oranges a bit to bring out that sunlit spot on the far shore. Also maybe a bit of fill light or shadow relief for the foreground rocks and I'd try to do everything I could to sharpen and bring out the textures in the rocks

Dave - Nothing to add to Wendy has said. I particularly agree with her comment about the crop of that bit of rock going upwards on the right.

If you do anything to the right edge, Dave, I would try a very miniscule crop to just remove that crack at the top. I like the way that distant headland goes behind the strong upright.

Possibly try a little LCE to give a bit more 'pop' but don't overdo it.

And there are a few spots in the top left corner, possibly sensor dust; fairly faint but noticeable.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Wendy, the editor I used was Photoscape, which is very basic, so perhaps I could have achieved a better result if I'd used GIMP.

I have tried a B&W version here. I quite like it but I think I need to hone my PP skills.

    Cheers all.

    Thank you, all.

As anyone who has seen a few of my efforts on here will know I have a great affection for Scotland. For its relatively small size it has a lot of stunning landscapes and some great people.
