Snowy Owls head south
The Snowy owls are wintering just north of town in NW Montana. My first time ever seeing them. Beautiful birds of prey. What a winter treat.

Nice catch Dave! I would love to see and capture one of those in the wild. Don't think they make it down this way, not sure though. Anyway, that first one is quite nice. Well done.

Nice work Dave. I like the 1st one. You capture it's eyes well. Great work on exposure with the overcast sky like that and a white target you did well not to blow out the whites in the owls feathers by exposing to far to the right.

Re: Snowy Owls head south
Thanks, the owl sat on the pole for a few minutes looking around. Most hawks lean forward poop and fly off immediately. This one pooped and settled down so I thought it would stay but then it flew off so I was not ready. When it flew off it went over the car so I missed those shots.
Oh well live and learn.

Re: Snowy Owls head south
I've learned that as soon as I see wildlife I switch the camera Release Mode to Continuous shutter firing. It the subject 'takes off' I aim, hold the shutter down and hopefully I have everything else configured correctly. I can get about 9 RAW shots at 3 shots/second before my buffer fills.
