About 25 years ago, I planted an oak. Today is is tall and beautiful...but what a mess it creates. How little did I know that planting it near my sidewalk, the burly acorns would create a hazard. It really does make a mess. These acorns are BIG compared to most...and burly!! I guess I was bored, looking for something to shoot! I brought in these acorns and placed on a dark black cardboard and lit from the light of a window....used my 105mm lens..

I guess that is why they call it a bur oak. I like the second pic with the leaves in it.

2nd image is significantly enhanced by the leaves, contrasting colors, texture and shadows
