Beautiful!

Thanks for the link Chris. An oyster mushroom it is.
Lovely shape and color....hmmm....I see these in my area, wonder if I should try cooking with them? Wonder if a small reflector (white cardboard, even) could have put a little light into the underside of this? just an afterthought.
I'd be nabbing the sucker and cooking it
Nice shot Paul...love the setting you were in!
The true "Oyster" mushroom doesn't grow here in the PNW, but there's a couple
of relatives of it that do, and from what I can find both are edible.

Just be sure to check it out thoroughly before you decided to chop it up
and fry it in a pan of butter. Grab a nice IPA out of the fridge, and Bon Appetite'!
Thanks guys, I might have tried to light the underside or even grab a slice but this guy was about 20ft up a tree.
Hi Paul,
I agree with the above comments about lighting the underside; but have just read your post regarding how high up it was, sort of stops you from doing that. However, it's still in my opinion a good shot. Well done.
I guess it was more the protected wet lands the tree stood in that was the deciding factor. lol
Definitely a very good shot....I sometimes carry one of those very bright, small LED flashlights, aimed just right, it won't leave the tell tale shadows that a flash would leave....I often walk in the woods, and it's very dark when the leaves are on the trees, so I find this helps me, and it can reach up 20 feet for a little extra boost. Find some more and post, please!!
Great shot, Paul. Also happy to know what that type of "mushroom" is as they grow in abundance in the woods in these parts. However, I am not brave enough to cook and eat one Nat, thanks for the tip about the little LCD flashlight. I have one in my purse that's going in my camera bag as soon as I stop typing.
