Jack
Nice capture of the bird amongst the grass. But I wonder if you've just missed nailing the focus? The bottom of the neck and the back of the body are perfect, but the eye and indeed the rest of the head, seem a bit soft.
I expect it was running away, birds do that when they see a camera
Hi Jack,
I'd suggest a selective sharpen to address the problem Donald has raised - unless it was a significant crop, if you downsize first then selective sharpen (i.e. the bird only), you can even out the detail to the same resolution (a trick I use sometimes).
I'd also suggest that about 15% of width is removed from the left hand side, it really isn't contributing anything.
A wild pheasant is one of the things I haven't managed to capture yet (never reacted quickly enough even if I have had a camera with me), so well done for that.
Cheers,
Nice capture, the colors really stand out.
Nice capture. Not much time to grab that one
