Colin I think you've got the best you could out of the beach.
I can see a good balance in the photo between the water and the sand. You chose two diagonals for the water line and the rock path and that proves you've got some good composition skills; I'm sure other photos will prove me right
Unfortunately it was not the best time of the day to take the shot. The sun was up in the sky, the light was strong and not much of a shadow in there.
You can try taking the same shot in the morning or around sunset, I'm pretty sure it will look different.
As I said, I think you got the best you could given the environmental conditions.
Keep the good work
Congrats on getting your photo posted and a thread started
I think Eugen is right with the perspective you used. I find that beach shots are best taken at sunrise or just before sunset though to make best use of the natural light to add mood to the scene. I'd also suggest that you try a different perspective thath allows you to include the sky.
Great shot Colin. I love the perspective and he lighting is great.
Nice one, Colin! Great colour and texture, particularly in the water. Any idea what once stood on those piles or how it meet its fate?
