Nice shot. Lots of things to look at. Everything is a bit too small so cannot quite make out what it is but that adds to the mystery.
A very pleasing image.
If Edna is the boat then she is well lovely and it is a very good shot.
Very nicely done Colin.
What is not to like? Very lovely shot.
I like night shots, Colin, and this one is no exception. The only thing that surprises me is the length of exposure. If I'm reading the EXIF correctly it looks like 476 seconds or over 7 minutes. Were you using a ND filter? I usually shoot night shots in the 20-40 second range.
And here was me thinking this was going to be a portrai, I thought interesting name, perhaps it's the young lady's granny's name.... Silly me!
That's got the 'Southern' stamp very firmly all over it. That's you back to what you do better than anyone else I know.
She's a lovely lady.
Just my thoughts, Colin, but I wonder if the boat would look better placed with a slight crop from the right image side, and a corresponding amount from the top and bottom if you want to keep the current ratio.
Hi Frank,
I'd have been able to use 20 - 40 seconds if I was shooting at F2.8 to F4, but unfortunately, that diminishes the star effect off point light sources. Normally I wouldn't (couldn't) shoot a floating boat for anywhere near that amount of time due to movement, but what I know (and you lot don't ) is that that patch of water is very tidal, and at this part of the day the boat is firmly on the ground (so I got away with it).
I was also hoping for a bit of cloud movement, but alas, no moon, and other things too bright (the boat was illuminated by a street light behind me)
